Nacho nahi bolo Mexitos
Mexitos, a nacho chips brand by Parle, approached us to create a humorous ad establishing its identity. The initial script had multiple layers, and in collaboration with the agency creatives, we brainstormed ideas to enhance the humour. Director Pushpendra Nath Misra suggested adding a scene where the protagonist’s wife divorces him, which was woven into the narrative.
The ad follows a laddering effect, where chaos ensues after the main character mistakenly calls the chips ‘Nacho’ instead of Mexitos. The spot is filled with clever dialogue, including phrases like “geography nahi, choreography” and “dance master,” which were added by the creative team. Siddharth Diwan, the DOP, expertly captured the humour and emotions, with the ad utilising filmmaking techniques such as jump cuts and a circular wipe transition, symbolising the protagonist’s life spiralling as we cut to him sulking in jail.
With its fast pace and snowballing comedic effect, the shoot was effortless and fun, allowing the team to capture multiple shots in a single day, resulting in a lively, engaging spot.
