Seasons ke naam batao?
In collaboration with BBDO, we created a mockumentary that highlighted the award-driven nature of pro bono work. The process involved Pushi and agency creatives Sandipan Bhattacharya and Josey Paul, who explored various ad formats.
The concept focused on humanitarian work occurring only during the three months before Cannes nominations, captured in the line: “Seasons ke naam batao?” (“Summer, winter, rainy, and awards season.”)
Production designer Sonali Bhatia brought the location to life with a solar-powered cap that played on the phrase “topi pehnana” (to make a fool out of someone) and created engaging graphics.
Filmed like a BBC documentary with stock music for a news-like feel, the ad was shot in Dharavi, Mumbai, offering the crew a profound look into local realities.
The journalist role required an Asian actor with a British Indian accent. Krishna Surbhi was cast but had to be dubbed by a British voiceover artist when she moved to the US. Auditions for other cast members included many trained at FTII and NSD.
This satirical ad won two shortlists at Cannes, one at Clio and Adfest, along with a metal and two shortlists at Kyoorius and two metals at Abby’s.
